Thomas Brigance was born in 1913 in Texas, USA.
From 1931 to 1934, Brigance attended the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York.
Later, he studied at the Sorbonne in Paris.
Brigance went to work for the New York department store Lord and Taylor.
He eventualy left and founded his own fashion house.
During World War Two Brigance served in the army.
After the war, Thomas Brigance went to work for Jaeger in London, and Simpson's of Piccadilly.
By 1949, Brigance had set up his own label in New York.
Brigance was awarded numerous awards during hid career including, the Coty American Fashion award in 1953, the International Silk Citation in 1954 and the Internazionale delle Arti Award in Italy in 1956.
One of his most famous clients was, The Duchess of Windsor, who purchased half a dozen of his designs.
