Renato Balestra was born in Trieste, Italy.
He started out studying civil engineering.
As a hobby, Balestra designed dresses.
A friend sent some of his sketches to Milan which eventually led to him joining a salon there.
He moved from Milan to Rome and set up on his own.
Renato Balestra has designed for some famous people including, Lauren Bacall Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Hutton and Natalie Wood.
He also designed uniforms for the Philippines and Alitalia Airlines.
He is a connoisseur of both classical music and opera.
