John Anthony was born in New York city in 1942.
Anthony attended the Accademia d'Arte in Rome, Italy studying art.
Later, he returned to New York, and graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology and the School of Industrial Arts.
John worked from 1959 to 1968 at Devonbrook Sportswear.
From 1968 to 1970 he worked for Adolphe Zelinka.
In 1971, Anthony finally started out on his own in Seventh Avenue, New York in 1971, John Anthony Haute Couture, with his first collection, an edited Marlene Dietrich look.
John Anthony won a Coty Fashion Award in 1972 and 1976 and later the Mortimer C. Ritter award.
