Sir Walter Raleigh was born in 1552, at Devonshire, England.
It should be noted that there are in fact several alternate spellings for his surname including: Ralegh, Rawleigh and Rawley.
In 1585, Raleigh was knighted.
Raleigh was a spy for Queen Elizabeth 1, and he uncover a plot by the Catholic church to overthrow Elizabeth.
Queen Elizabeth 1, as a sign of gratitude, granted Walrt a 40,000 acre estate in Ireland.
After the death of Elizabeth, Raleigh suffered some trumped up charge for treason.
Later, Raleigh was charged with conspiring against James I.
Walter Raleigh died October 29, 1618, by execution.
