Zebulon Pike Biography

Zebulon Pike was born on January 5, 1779, in Lamberton, New Jersey.

In 1794, Pike was a Cadet in the army serving in his Fathers regiment. By 1805, Pike was placed in charge of a mission to explore the source of the Mississippi River.

In 1806, Pike led a new mission. This time to explore west. During this mission, he sighted "Pikes Peak", which was eventually named after him.

In 1810, an account of his expedition was published.

Zebulon Pike died in 1813.
