Sir Alexander Mackenzie was born in probably 1764, in Scotland.
His family moved to New York in 1774.
Then in 1776, they moved to Montreal.
Mackenzie founded Fort Chipewyan in 1788.
In 1789, Alexander discovered the Mackenzie River.
Mackenzie also became the first European to cross the Continental Divide and the Rocky Mountains.
In 1802, Mackenzie was Knighted.
He also served in the legislature of Lower Canada.
Alexander Mackenzie died in 1820.
