In 1931, Ellsworth was part of the flight of the Graf Zeppelin to Franz Josef Land and Northern Land.
Ellsworth was also part of a team that tried to reach to North Pole by submarine.
Ellsworth wrote a number of books including: Search(1932), Exploring Today(1935), and Beyond Horizons(1938).
Lincoln Ellsworth died on May 26, 1951, in New York City.
