WILLIAM DAMPIER BIOGRAPHY

William Dampier was born in 1651, near Yeovil.

In 1673, Dampier took part in the Dutch War. William led the life as a pirate in some ways. From 1679, Dampier was part of a buccaneering voyage against Spanish America.

Dampier eventually went to the Philippines and ended up on the Nicobar Islands. Eventually, William returned to England in 1691. Dampier was also part of an expedition to Australia.

William Dampier died in March, 1715.
