Sir Francis McClintock was born July 8, 1819, Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland.
At only 12 years old, Francis joined the British Navy.
In 1848, McClintock was part of a voyage in search of the lost Sir John Franklin.
In 1850, Francis was part of a second voyage.
McClintock commanded the "Fox" in 1857.
Francis discovered records which solved the mystery of Sir John Franklin.
On his return, McClintock was presented with the ship he had made the voyage by Lady Franklin.
On February 23, 1860, Sir Francis McClintock was Knighted.
McClintock attained the rank of Full Admiral in 1884.
Sir Francis McClintock died in 1907, London.
