Eris was a Greek goddess.
The Romans called her Discordia.
She was the goddess of strife.
She took pleasure in stirring up disputes among mortals and immortals alike.
It was she who threw the golden apple, marked "For the fairest," among the goddesses
Aphrodite, Athena, and Hera.
This caused a huge fight in heaven.
It also led to a war between the Greeks and the Trojans.
Eris was terrible in appearance and lived in the realm below.
She was a companion to Ares, god of war, and mother
to Enyo a goddess of war and
devastation.
