Electrum is an alloy of Gold and silver in the proportion of four parts Gold to one part Silver.

The colour resembles Amber.

It was believed a cup of this metal could detect poison by exhibiting certain semicircles like rainbows in the liquor.

It also sparkled and hissed as if on fire.
