DALMATIONS

The Dalmatian is a medium size dog with white and black or liver colored spots. The exact history of the Dalmation is a mystery but ancient engravings and drawings show spotted dogs accompanying Egyptian chariots.

Dalmations were popular with the English aristocracy who used them to accompany horse drawn carriages. In Vietnam Dalmatians were used to guard the camps of soldiers.

In london Dalmatians were used as fire dogs. They also killed vermin in londons stables and firehouses.

They started running beside the fire engines and to this day dalmatians are often seen riding in the fire. Dalmations are active dogs that enjoy lots of exercise.

They are also adult dogs, meaning that they do not always go well with children. Dalmatians weigh between 40 to 60 pounds and are 18-23 inches tall.
