CLEDONISM

A system of divination that is based on the good or evil passage of words.

These words must be uttered without premeditation when persons come together in any way.

The system also regulated the words to be used on certain occasions.

Cledonism was a favorite method of divination at Smyrna where the Oracle of Apollo were thus interpreted.
