The Rochdale Car company was founded by Frank Butterworth and Harry Smith in 1948, in Hudson Street, Rochdale.
Originally they started out as general motor repairs.
But they 1957 to 1973 they moved into car production.
The Rochdale Olympic car was a glass fibre monocoque British sports car.
In 1961, a fire detroyed the Hudson Street premises and Rochdale moved a short distance to Littledale Mill.
