Rollei Camera History

Rollei Camera History dates back to 1920 when the business was founded by Paul Franke and Reinhold Heidecke in Germany. In 1928, Heidecke developed a twin-lens camera that revolutionized cameras.

In 1930 they opening a new factory in Brunswick. In 1937 at the World Exhibition, the twin-lens Rolleiflex was awarded the Grand Prix.

During World War Two the factory was used for the armaments industry. Most of the factory was destroyed during the war, but soon rebilt after.

In 1963 the Rollei 16 was introduced.
