Hasselblad Camera History

Hasselblad was founded in 1841 in Gothenburg, Sweden. By the 1890s, Hasselblad had started to distribute photographic products.

During World War Two, Hasselblad developed an aerial camera for the Royal Swedish Air Force. After the war, Hasselblad started producing civilian cameras. By 1948, the Hasselblad 1600F was introduced into the market.

Modified Hasselblad Cameras were used during the Apollo Program missions on the Moon.

Hong Kong company Shriro aquired Hasselblad in 2003. In 2004, Hasselblad merged with the Danish company Imacon A/S.
