FRANCIS STANLEY BIOGRAPHY

Francis Stanley was born in 1849, in Kingfield, Maine.

In 1883, Francis invented a photographic dry-plate process. Francis and his brother then formed the "Stanley Dry Plate Company", which was later sold to "Eastman Kodak". In 1896, the brothers also invented the "Stanley Steamer".

Francis Stanley died in 1918.
