BIOGRAPHY OF POET WILLIAM CAMPBELL

1858? - 1918 Born in Kitchener, Ontario, Campbell grew up in Wiarton.

Schooled in Owen Sound, and studied at the University College, where he wrote for the student newspaper.

He went to Wycliffe College, Toronto, and then, Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Married Mary Dibble of Woodstock, Ontario, in 1884.

First two volumes of verse were Sunshine and Snowflakes (1888), and Lake Lyrics (1889).

Also wrote historical novels and poetic dramas, and he edited the Oxford Book of Canadian Verse (1913).
