BIOGRAPHY OF POET LEIGH HUNT

1784 - 1859.

English poet, essayist, critic, and journalist.

His poem "The Story of Rimini" (1816), was influential on the second generation of Romantic poets.

An edition of Hunt's Poetical Works was published in 1838.

Most of his prose appeared in the form of essays in his own journals.

Was a friend of writers such as Hazlitt, Lamb, Keats, and Shelley.

With his brother John, Hunt established the "Examiner" in 1808.

Because of an article casting aspersions on the prince regent, the brothers were imprisoned from 1813 to 1815.
