Charles Dickens was born February 7, 1812 in Portsea, England.
He was forced to start work at only ten years old to help support his family.
As an adult Charles worked as a law clerk, court stenographer, a journalist and later the editor of Bentley's Miscellany.
Dickens married Catherine Hogarth on April 2, 1836.
Together they had ten children.
Charles Dickens died June 9, 1870.
He is best known for his novels "Oliver Twist" and "Great Expectations".
