The exact history of the Basenji is a little unsure but there are pictures of Basenjis on Ancient Egyptian tombs dating back to 3,600BC.
Around the 1930s Basenjis were taken to England from Sudan.
The Basenji is an interesting dog in that it does not bark.
They are very difficult to train and have a most "catlike " mind of their own.
The Basenji needs plenty of exercise and does not take to enclosed spaces.
It is much better you live on a farm if you want to own this dog.
The ideal height is around 43cm with a weight of 11kg.
