Sharing a bed with your baby makes for easier breastfeeding. If you
sleep share, nighttime feedings require nothing more than turning over
and starting the meal.
It's far easier and more enjoyable than
crawling out from under the warm blankets, trudging down the hall,
picking up your baby, settling into a rocking chair, and then nursing.
Studies funded by the National Institutes of Health show that babies
who sleep with their mother nurse twice as much and three times as
long as babies who sleep by themselves. All that breast milk gives
your baby a natural immunesystem boost, and may help him grow faster,
too.
Another plus is that since neither you nor your baby has to fully wake
up to feed, you'll both fall back to sleep sooner, too.
