Tae Kwan Do

Tae Kwan Do literally translated means "the way of foot and fist". Tae means "to strike with the foot"; Kwon means "to strike with the hand"; and Do means "way" or "path".

Tae Kwan Do stems from a Korean method of self-defense long ago. Taekwondo is an amalgamation of Chinese, Japanese, and traditional Korean fighting styles.

Gen. Hong Hi Choi lead the formation of Tae Kwan Do by joining the joining the kwans together to form Tae Kwan Do. These Kwans included Chang Moo Kwan, Chung Do Kwan, Chi Do Kwan, Ji Do Kwan, Oh Do Kwan, Song Moo Kwan, and Yun Moo Kwan,.

Tae Kwan Do these days is a part of the Olympic Games. It is also the national sport of Korea. It has become the world's most commonly practiced martial art.
