Damage may occur in your lungs if you breathe in dusts, vapours, mists or particulates when at work.
Breathing in irritants at work may lead to a lung disease known as Occupational Asthma (OA).
You may be at risk if you work in an area where you are exposed to irritants.
However detecting OA can be hard as the symptoms can occur up to 24 hours after exposure to the irritant.
If you think you have OA tell your doctor.
Your doctor will be able to check your lungs and will ask you some questions about your work.
If there is a problem with you and your fellow workers breathing irritants your health and safety representative or employer should be told.
In many cases there are easy methods to reduce any problems with air quality at work.
