SEPPUKU, SAMURAI SUICIDE

Seppuku: A Samurai ritual suicide that is thought of as an honorable death. The practised form of seppuku was Hara-kiri (cutting of the stomach).

Samurai committed seppuku for reasons of honour, disgrace, showing disagreement with master.

Seppuku was performed in a formal ceremony when not in battle. The Samurai sliced his abdomen after which he outstreched his neck. He was then beheaded with only one stroke of his sword by his helperin the Seppuku.
