SAMURAI HISTORY

Samurai Warriors lived by an ethics code of behavior named "bushido". Bushido means "way of the warrior". Also, Japanese samurai class was hereditary.

Samurai Warriors came into existence around the 12th century. The samurai were the military retainers of a daimyo.

Samurai privileges included the right to wear two swords.

Samurai Caste:
Kenin: Administrators or vassals.
Mounted Samurai - Top ranking Samurai warriors were only allowed to fight on horse.
Foot Soldiers.

In 1876, Emperor Meiji declared a new law ending the wearing of swords in public. The samurai had lost their position in society, and after a rebellion led by Saigo Takamori was put down by Goverment troops, the Samurai had finally came to the end.
