Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn: Born: Leiden, July 15, 1606.
The son of a miller.
He started his studies at Latin School.
At age 14 he enrolled at the "University of Leiden", but he left to study art.
He started with a local master, "Jacob van Swanenburch".
Later, he studied with "Pieter Lastman".
At just 22, Rembrandt began taking pupils.
In 1631, he moved to Amsterdam.
In 1634, he married "Saskia van Uylenburgh".
His housekeeper, Hendrickje Stoffels, eventually became his common-law wife.
She was the model for many of his pictures.
Rembrandt declared bankruptcy in 1656.
Rembrandt died in Amsterdam, October 4, 1669.
