Pre-Raphaelites

Pre-Raphaelites: In 1848, a group of young artists rebelled against the style of art taught at the Royal Academy.

These artists formed a secret society called "The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (PRB)".

Pre-Raphaelites used bright colors painted on a white canvas.

Many artists Addopted the Pre-Raphaelites style but were not actually members of the brotherhood.

The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was founded by artist and poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti.

Other Pre-Raphaelites included: Sir John Everett Millais, Ford Maddox Brown and William Dyce.
