Michelangelo Buonarroti Biography
Michelangelo Buonarroti: Born: March 6, 1475, Caprese, Italy.
At age 13 Michelangelo Buonarroti was apprenticed to Domenico Ghirlandaio.
Later, Michelangelo Buonarroti studied sculpture under Bertoldo di Giovanni.
He moved to Rome where he carved the Bacchus and then the Pietà which is in St. Peter's basilica in Rome.
Returning to Florence Michelangelo Buonarroti began work on the David.
The statue was completed in 1504.
In 1508 he began work on the Sistine Chapel ceiling frescoes.
Michelangelo`s last paintings were the frescoes of the Conversion of St. Paul and the Crucifixion of St. Peter in the Pauline Chapel in the Vatican.
Michelangelo Buonarroti died February 18, 1564.
