Raoul Dufy

Raoul Dufy: Born: 3 June 1877, LeHavre.

Attended night classes at L'cole des Beaux Arts.

Later, he attended the cole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts.

At one stage, he designed fabrics for the dressmaker, Paul Poiret.

Was awarded the Painting Prize at the Venice Biennale in 1952.

Died on 23 March 1953, Forcalquier, Basses-Alpes. He developed a colourful, decorative style that became fashionable for designs for ceramics, textiles and decorative schemes for public buildings. He is noted for scenes of open-air social events.
