Andre Derain: Born: 1880, Chatou artist colony, just outside Paris.

Attended the Academie Carriere in Paris.

Derain exhibited his work at the Salon des Independants and the Salon d'Automne.

Derain stayed in Paris during most of the German Occupation.

He died from shock after being hit by a truck in 1954. His work had often divided informed opinion.
