Mary Cassatt

Mary Cassatt: Born: May 22, 1844, Allegheny City, U.S.A.

Mary studied art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia.

Moved to Paris in 1874.

Formed a strong friendship with Degas.

She participated in the Impressionist exhibitions of 1879, 1880, 1881 and 1886.

Died: June 14, 1926, Château de Beaufresne, France. Cassatt often created images of the social and private lives of women, with particular emphasis on the intimate bonds between mothers and children.
