Ardingly has many Ghosts , but there are two that seem to follow a similar
pattern . The one I saw is called Old Jack
and has been seen by many motorists on the same stretch of road on the
B2028. For some strange reason it is most
often seen by young drivers and appears only to them . It takes pleasure
out of scaring them by its sudden appearance
in the road . It is most often seen by male drivers who it likes to give a
scare to. Acording to local legend Jack was a Navie who worked on the
construction of the old steam railway which runs from Horsted Keynes to
Haywards Heath .
However he did not do much work and spent his time drinking in local
pubs. One night after a drinking session he got into
a fight and was killed.
The Second Ghost which is also seen by motorists on the same stretch of road
is that of a young Girl which is
seen in a Brown raincoat and runs out into the middle of the road before
disappearing.Motorists stop to try to help
her little realising that she is a ghost. This Ghost is of a road traffic
victim who was killed by a hit and run motorcyclist and is believed to have
been a student at Ardingly College and is a relatively modern ghost. Inspirational Posters
