CAMELS

Camels have been used for thousands of years in the desert by traders and dwellers for transport, meat, milk, wool and hides. However, with the progress of technology, Camels are not used in a work way as much these days.

But the use of Camels in thoroughbred racing is becoming more popular. What makes Camels so good in the desert is that they can go 5-7 days with almost no food and water.

The Dromedary or Arabian Camel has a single hump, and the Bactrian Camel has two humps. Bactrian camels have two coats. Humans first domesticated camels between 3,500–3,000 years ago.

It is thought that Camels actually originatted in North America some 40 million years ago. Camel milk is a staple food of desert nomad tribes and is richer in fat and protein than cow's milk.
