BILBY

The Bilby is a nocturnal animal from Australia.

Bilbies are marsupial omnivores; they are members of the Peramelemorphia biological order and the largest of the bandicoots. There was originally two species, but one became extinct in the 1950s with the other surviving, but remains endangered.

The Bilby lives in the Australian deserts, grasslands and dry shrub areas. The Bilby has become a popular Easter icon In Australia.

Their diet consists of seeds, fruit, insects and fungi. Bilbi is a type of Bandicoot. They are excellent burrowers and build extensive tunnel systems with their strong forelimbs and well-developed claws.
