The dog lived for centuries in the Anatolian plateau of Turkey.
The Anatolian Shepherd Dog was used to guard flocks of sheep.
If there was a sign of danger the dog would gather the sheep in behind him and would be prepared to fight to the death to protect them.
This dog is capable of great speed and endurance.
He is easy to train and makes a good gaurd dog.
He is especially possessive of his home.
He will not allow anyone into the family property if the owner is not at home.
If you are considering buying an Anatolian please be advised they can be rather dominant towards other dogs.
They also should live on property with plenty of space.
They also tend to bark at night.
The height is around 25 to 30 inches with a weight of between 90 to 150 lbs.
